The Wainawaqa Bridge in Naitasiri is re-open to traffic following the completion of emergency repair works to the significant slip on the approach road.
Confirming this, the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) Acting Chief Executive Officer Kamal Prasad says the bridge is safe and accessible to traffic now.
“The bus services have resumed, and they are now able to safely access up to Wainawaqa and Nadakuni Village,” Mr Prasad said.
He said the bridge has been welcomed by the villagers who use it on a daily basis, especially those that had to observe restricted crossing times in the past.
Mr Prasad has thanked the villagers for their patience and support during the restoration works.
A weight restriction of 18 tonnes is still in place on the bridge.
