Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) would like to advise members of the public that Queen Elizabeth Drive (QED) between Ratu Sukuna Road to Kumi Street will be closed on an intermittent basis for the next four months to all vehicular traffic from Monday 15 March.<\/p>\n

Works will be carried out on 24 hours\/7day basis as part of the QED Upgrade Project which will include site clearance, property accommodation, drainage upgradation, Pavement works and utility relocation works.<\/p>\n

Please take note that only residents living along the affected area will be issued vehicle passes and will be permitted into the work area. Residents living along Charlton, Kumi, Storck, Gardener and Crawford are advised to access from Ratu Sukuna.<\/p>\n

The general public is advised to follow the detour routes. Vehicles travelling from Suva City to Laucala Bay will be diverted to Ratu Sukuna Road and then towards Vuya Road back into QED and similarly vehicles travelling from Laucala bay towards Suva city along QED is required to be detoured along Vuya Road and then towards Ratu Sukuna.<\/p>\n

Manual traffic controllers will be stationed at prominent locations including entry and exit points to the site to guide the road users. Commuters along this area are advised to take this notice into account when finalising travel plans. We apologise for any inconvenience.<\/p>\n

Also, the FRA has completed its Environment Impact Assessment and we have received approval from the Department of Environment to remove 34 trees as well as some coconut\/palm trees from QED.<\/p>\n

For each tree removed, the FRA will replace it with 10 trees and 1:1 for the coconut\/ palm trees at the My Suva Park foreshore or any other location identified by the Suva City Council.<\/p>\n
