{"id":8002,"date":"2020-03-05T04:34:15","date_gmt":"2020-03-05T04:34:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fijiroads.org\/?p=5945"},"modified":"2020-03-05T04:34:15","modified_gmt":"2020-03-05T04:34:15","slug":"fra-taking-steps-to-rectify-the-most-severely-deteriorated-roads-in-suva","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fijiroads.org\/index.php\/2020\/03\/05\/fra-taking-steps-to-rectify-the-most-severely-deteriorated-roads-in-suva\/","title":{"rendered":"FRA TAKING STEPS TO RECTIFY THE MOST SEVERELY DETERIORATED ROADS IN SUVA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>05 March 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) acknowledges the concerns regarding the adverse road conditions around Suva.<\/p>\n<p>We are aware of the condition of the most severely deteriorated roads and are taking steps to rectify the situation.<\/p>\n<p>Regrettably the necessary termination of the Suva Arterial Road Upgrading Project 2 (SARUP 2) contract has delayed our reconstruction programme by approximately 15 months.<\/p>\n<p>In recognition of this, 5 roads have been removed from the scope of the retender for SARUP 2 and will be fully reconstructed over the next 12 months. These roads are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Amy Street<\/li>\n<li>Brown Street<\/li>\n<li>Milverton Road<\/li>\n<li>Ratu Mara Road (incl. Nabua Bypass<\/li>\n<li>Waimanu Road<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The remaining roads under the SARUP 2 scope are being retendered as 4 separate contracts.<\/p>\n<p>The work has been split in order to reduce the construction delivery period for each road and to widen the pool of contractors that can tender for the work.
