{"id":7358,"date":"2022-10-21T10:39:33","date_gmt":"2022-10-20T22:39:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fijiroads.org\/?p=7358"},"modified":"2022-10-21T10:39:33","modified_gmt":"2022-10-20T22:39:33","slug":"road-improvement-works-progressing-in-the-northern-division-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fijiroads.org\/index.php\/2022\/10\/21\/road-improvement-works-progressing-in-the-northern-division-2\/","title":{"rendered":"ROAD IMPROVEMENT WORKS PROGRESSING IN THE NORTHERN DIVISION"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>21 October 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) Chief Executive Officer Kamal Prasad says road improvement works are currently progressing in the Northern Division to help improve the level of service of existing roads.<\/p>\n<p>The roads earmarked and undergoing improvement works under the Rip and Remake programme are as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Roadworks in progress in Labasa Zone <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Damanu Street<\/li>\n<li>Silas Ramzan Street<\/li>\n<li>Sarosaro Lane # 2 from Park St to Damanu Street<\/li>\n<li>Park Street<\/li>\n<li>Part of Sangam Avenue<\/li>\n<li>Rosawa St from FNPF to Matuk Motors<\/li>\n<li>Valebasoga Road from Bulileka Roundabout to Basoga Bridge<\/li>\n<li>Vunivau Cemetery Road from Vunivau Circular Road to Valebasoga Road<\/li>\n<li>Vunivau Circular Road<\/li>\n<li>Bulileka Road from Urata Road Intersection to Bulileka Village<\/li>\n<li>Prince Andrew Side Roads, Lowcost<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Programme for the next 3 months<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nadawa Street<\/li>\n<li>Namara Road<\/li>\n<li>Mudaliar Street<\/li>\n<li>Labasa Main Street from CDP to Nasekula Bridge<\/li>\n<li>James Madhavan Street<\/li>\n<li>Prasad Lane<\/li>\n<li>Ivi Street<\/li>\n<li>Vesi Street (Vakamasuasua Industrial Sub Division)<\/li>\n<li>Zoing Place<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Tuatua Housing Sub Division Roads<\/li>\n<li>Rara Housing Sub Division Roads, Lajonia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Roadworks in progress in Natua Zone, Seaqaqa <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Navidamu Road from Kawakawavou Bridge (Seaqaqa Central College) to Ahmadhiya Muslim Primary School<\/li>\n<li>Nabouwalu Road at Nakadrudru, Lekutu, Bua<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Programme for the next 3 months<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Raimuri Road, Seaqaqa<\/li>\n<li>Seaqaqa Hospital Road<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Roadworks in progress in Savusavu<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Transinsular Road from Kawakawamoli Junction towards Saivou Village<\/li>\n<li>Velovelo Street<\/li>\n<li>Nakama Road<\/li>\n<li>Tukavesi Village Frontage, Napuka Road<\/li>\n<li>Buca Village Frontage, Napuka Road<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Programme for the next 3 months<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Buca Bay Road (Junction towards Airport)<\/li>\n<li>Transinsular Road (Saivou Village to Spring\/Boundary)<\/li>\n<li>Nukubalavu Road<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Surfacing Programme (Reseal) <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Transinsular Road (Re-surfacing from Savarekareka to Buca Bay Intersection)<\/li>\n<li>Mizpha Avenue<\/li>\n<li>Savudrodro Road<\/li>\n<li>Shiu Chand Road<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mr Prasad said driver behaviour is a significant safety issue not only for their contractors and staff but also for other road users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are concerned with the drivers driving over the posted speed limits, especially on newly sealed roads. Motorists must be mindful to reduce speed even where sites have no staff actively working to also avoid unnecessary damage to vehicles and vehicles veering off due to loose sealing chips.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said the extra sealing chips are generally swept away 14 days after the laying of the seal.
