{"id":5583,"date":"2019-12-11T01:21:18","date_gmt":"2019-12-11T01:21:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fijiroads.org\/?p=5583"},"modified":"2019-12-11T01:21:18","modified_gmt":"2019-12-11T01:21:18","slug":"fra-assists-fiji-police-with-58-traffic-police-signs-to-improve-road-safety","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fijiroads.org\/index.php\/2019\/12\/11\/fra-assists-fiji-police-with-58-traffic-police-signs-to-improve-road-safety\/","title":{"rendered":"FRA ASSISTS FIJI POLICE WITH 58 TRAFFIC POLICE SIGNS TO IMPROVE ROAD SAFETY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>JOINT MEDIA RELEASE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>11 December 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With the number of deaths on the roads, the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) has assisted the Fiji Police Force with 58 new traffic police signs to improve road safety.<\/p>\n<p>FRA Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Moore says they are deeply concerned with the number of deaths on the roads and these traffic signs will help the police control accidents on the road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have identified a number of blackspots throughout Fiji and we are planning a blackspot treatment programme where we will review the most dangerous locations and engineer solutions to increase the safety for road users,\u201d Mr Moore said.<\/p>\n<p>He said these new traffic police signs represent the collaboration between the FRA and the Fiji Police Force and over the next two to three years the FRA will be dedicating $15m into this operation to address this problem and help save lives.<\/p>\n<p>Acting Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu says the initiative this morning is the first of its kind through a joint effort with the FRA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a timely boost to our traffic operation considering that festive season is just around the corner.
