There has been two accidents in the last 12 hours along the four lane project at Nakasi on Kings Road.<\/p>\n

Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Moore says it is extremely concerning that despite several warnings, some drivers continue to deliberately ignore safety advice, and speed through road works.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe law requires motorists to obey the reduced speed zones through roadworks. We have already suspended night works and if the issue of speeding continues, we may end up closing sections of the road or installing physical speed controls,\u201d Mr Moore said.<\/p>\n

He said they have asked the Land Transport Authority to consider putting traffic cameras once the work is complete on the entire length to help manage the issue of speeding.<\/p>\n

\u201cMotorists are once again reminded to please slow down to the posted speed limit through roadworks for their safety and that of the workers striving to improve our roads. At the end of the day we all want to return home safely to our families.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Moore said they were working with the Fiji Police Force to address this issue of speeding through roadwork zones.<\/p>\n
