The four lane project on Kings Road, Suva, between Rewa Bridge and 9-Miles is in its prime stages.<\/p>\n

Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Moore says their engineers and contractors were working around the clock to ensure progress in all aspects of the project is achieved by June.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of the major works that has been executed so far include asphalt paving works, newly constructed footpaths and cycle lanes, installation of street light poles, median fences, and bus shelters as well as improving the utility services (WAF, EFL and TFL) along the length of the project.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Moore said the inclusion of the cycle lane is a green initiative of the Authority that has been incorporated into the footpath design.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis initiative aims to be an influencing factor towards global warming and climate change. Since the weather is deemed to be more favorable in the coming days, the remaining works will be expedited in order to deliver the much awaited four lane highway.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said anticipation from the general public is at a high as the new four lane highway project is expected to ease traffic congestion along the Suva- Nausori corridor.<\/p>\n

Mr Moore has commended his staff and their contractors for their hard work and dedication.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would also like to thank the public for their continuous support and patience during these important roadworks. Please continue to adhere to the speed limits and observe all road signs.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two contractors for this project are Higgins Fiji and Dayals Quarries<\/p>\n
