Road users will now be able to cross safely following the installation of the new mid-block pedestrian crossing at Renwick Road in Suva.<\/p>\n

Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) Acting Program Manager Electrical Musheer Khan says they are committed to improve safety for the road users and the new traffic signal will better manage the flow of traffic.<\/p>\n

\u201cPreviously we had a zebra crossing to guide the motorists, however, we have now installed a new traffic signal and we are urging pedestrians to please follow the lights.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said it has come to their attention that some pedestrians are still under the impression that they have a right of way and they are continuing to use the crossing as a normal zebra crossing.<\/p>\n

Mr Khan said this was the case before the installation of the traffic signal and the zebra crossing has now been blacked out.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are advising the road users to please follow the traffic signals at all times.\u201d<\/p>\n
