{"id":3225,"date":"2018-01-16T04:19:25","date_gmt":"2018-01-16T04:19:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fijiroads.org\/?p=3225"},"modified":"2018-01-16T04:19:25","modified_gmt":"2018-01-16T04:19:25","slug":"reckless-driver-behavior-concern-fra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fijiroads.org\/index.php\/2018\/01\/16\/reckless-driver-behavior-concern-fra\/","title":{"rendered":"RECKLESS DRIVER BEHAVIOR A CONCERN FOR FRA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>16 January 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) is concerned with reckless driver behavior, especially along active work sites.<\/p>\n<p>FRA Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Moore raised his concerns after a driver on Kings Road in front of Rups Nakasi crashed through warning signs and barriers, entered the FRA team\u2019s worksite and came very close to colliding with our team that was working on the road this morning at around 5am.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe consequence of this incident could have been fatal, but not through any action of the driver, we were lucky that nobody was seriously injured,\u201d Mr Moore said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was only in Monday\u2019s press conference that I advised our concern about the reckless behavior of some of the drivers on the roads that is endangering the teams working out there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the press conference, Mr Moore said he had also advised that if this reckless and inconsiderate behavior continued then they might have no alternative but to close sites and take alternative actions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the light of this morning\u2019s incident, I have directed my team to close particularly vulnerable sites and to install solid barriers around work sites to protect the workers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said unfortunately these actions will prolong works on site and increase the cost of our work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe regret that the disruption to travel may be prolonged and we also regret that the extent of work that we are able to deliver this year may be reduced through the diversion of extra expenditure required for additional protection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, Mr Moore has reiterated that the safety of FRA team is paramount and while reckless and irresponsible drivers continue to endanger their lives these measures will continue.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read Full Report: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fijiroads.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/RECKLESS-DRIVER-BEHAVIOR-A-CONCERN-FOR-FRA-1.pdf\"><strong>RECKLESS DRIVER BEHAVIOR A CONCERN FOR FRA<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>16 January 2017 Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) is concerned with reckless driver behavior, especially along active work sites.
