{"id":2492,"date":"2017-08-11T20:31:24","date_gmt":"2017-08-11T20:31:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fijiroads.org\/?p=2492"},"modified":"2017-08-11T20:31:24","modified_gmt":"2017-08-11T20:31:24","slug":"500-people-benefit-new-access-road-tailevu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fijiroads.org\/index.php\/2017\/08\/11\/500-people-benefit-new-access-road-tailevu\/","title":{"rendered":"MORE THAN 500 PEOPLE BENEFIT FROM NEW ACCESS ROAD IN TAILEVU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>12 August 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>More than 500 people living in the Namata and Matadawa village in Tailevu are now benefiting from the new 1.3km access road constructed by the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA).<\/p>\n<p>FRA Acting Chief Executive Officer Robert Sen says the new access road will improve the quality of life by providing a number of social and economic benefits to the people living in the two villages.<\/p>\n<p>The access to Matadawa Village is in Tailevu province, approximately 1km along Namata Road from the end of Raralevu Road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that this new access road will significantly impact their quality of life by providing better transportation as well as improve their livelihood opportunities. The villagers will no longer need to travel by sea.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Sen said the project was completed within three months. (<em>The commencement date was April 20, 2017 and the completion date was July 22, 2017).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe FRA wishes to thank our hardworking contractor K Lal and Sons Investment (Fiji) Ltd for a job well done and to both the villagers for their patience and support during the construction works.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The project was under the Construction of Rural Roads under Day Works- Namata Access Village Road, Natila Access Road (Logani-Seba Road) and Sawanikula Korovou Road lead by Mr Johari Abdullah (Engineer to Contract), Moshin Hussain (Engineer\u2019s Assistant) and Ropate Sokoiwasa (Construction Supervisor).<\/p>\n<p>Stage two has gone out to market where the access road will be upgraded to graveled rural road. The tender closes at 2:00pm on 7 September 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Works on the Natila Access Road is currently in progress and works on the Sawanikula Road will start by the end of this
