{"id":2344,"date":"2017-07-04T02:29:50","date_gmt":"2017-07-04T02:29:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fijiroads.org\/?p=2344"},"modified":"2017-07-04T02:29:50","modified_gmt":"2017-07-04T02:29:50","slug":"mill-fill-programme-rolls-knolly-street","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fijiroads.org\/index.php\/2017\/07\/04\/mill-fill-programme-rolls-knolly-street\/","title":{"rendered":"MILL AND FILL PROGRAMME ROLLS OUT ON KNOLLY STREET"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>4 July 2017<\/p>\n<p>Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) would like to advise members of the public that the Knolly Street intersection in Suva is undergoing night maintenance works.<\/p>\n<p>Works have commenced outside evening peak hours from 8pm daily and will conclude on Saturday- July 8, weather permitting.<\/p>\n<p>FRA Acting Chief Executive Officer Robert Sen says they have adopted the Mill and Fill method which will require removing the existing pavement, clean and apply a membrane seal and then pave a fresh asphaltic concrete layer top as the finishing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur main aim is to remove the badly deformed surface which has deteriorated over the high stress of vehicles driving along this roundabout and the connecting roads,\u201d Mr Sen said.<\/p>\n<p>He said the surface of this route had lost its ability to be water proof and hence the inevitability of the formation of potholes.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Sen added that some of the other works included repairing footpaths, removing and replacing kerbs and channels, improve line marking and erecting proper standard signages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough these works do not restrict accessibility, motorists are requested to factor in extra travel time in their journey.\u201d<br \/>\nOnce work is completed, Mr Sen said the improved road will provide a smoother and safer journey to the motorists, with more visible signage and road markings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA temporary traffic management will be placed to guide the road users and all work is expected to be completed by July 8, weather permitting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The total cost of these works is approximately $635,586.00.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read Full Report: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fijiroads.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/MILL-AND-FILL-PROGRAMME-ROLLS-OUT-ON-KNOLLY-STREET-1.pdf\"><strong>MILL AND FILL PROGRAMME ROLLS OUT ON KNOLLY STREET<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>4 July 2017 Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) would like to advise members of the public that the Knolly Street intersection in Suva is undergoing night maintenance<span class=\"excerpt-hellip\"> [\u2026]<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":2343,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[26],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-2344","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-media"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.8 -
