Fiji Roads Authority wishes to advise travellers along Queens Road in Nadi of upcoming temporary changes to traffic flow at the Votualevu roundabout on Saturday 28th February and Sunday 01st March.
Zaina Khan, Nadi and Suva Road Upgrading Programme Engineer with the FRA says “Our contractor, Higgins in conjunction with Water Authority of Fiji will be completing two major water pipe crossings under the Queens Road Highway on the Lautoka bound exit from the Votualevu roundabout. These crossings are part of the significant ongoing utilities relocations and upgrading that are currently taking place within the road corridor in coordination with the road upgrading projects in Nadi”
“As a result there will be some temporary ongoing changes to the way traffic operates in the area over this weekend. The main impact being from midday onwards on Saturday and then again on Sunday when all traffic entering the roundabout will be on single lane stop / go and under traffic controllers’ management” says Ms Khan.
As ever, we are asking that motorists reduce speed to 30km/h and remain aware of the temporary advisory signs and cones posted on site to advise and guide road users of the upcoming temporary traffic management.
“It should be noted that this will be the first of many such weekend working road upgrading and utility crossing activities in and around the vicinity of the roundabout over the coming months. We hope to keep motorists advised as soon as possible on an ongoing basis as the work progresses” says Ms Khan
Higgins will be monitoring traffic flow in the area to keep disruption down to a minimum over this weekend. However, it is important to factor in extra travel time if you are planning to use Votualevu Roundabout after midday on Saturday and again on Sunday. Note there will be no temporary lane restrictions at Votualevu Roundabout over Saturday night as these will be lifted and lanes will be reopened when work stops on Saturday evening.
