TEMPORARY ROAD LAYOUT AT RUPS COMPLEX IN NAKASI AND THE WAINIBUKU – NAIVORVORO INTERSECTION

29 December 2017

Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) wishes to advise members of the public of the traffic lane reconfiguration of the road network on King’s road in front of Rups Nakasi and at the Wainibuku and Naivorovoro crossroads.

As a consequence, all right turn out of the Rups complex front exit on Kings Road will be blocked.

FRA General Manager Network Operations and Maintenance Aram Goes says the changes to the road network is to enable a safe and efficient flow of traffic in and around the Rups Nakasi complex and Wainibuku and Naivorovoro intersection.

“Improvements to the current traffic movements in and out of Rups Nakasi complex and the introduction of a temporary mini round about at the Wainibuku – Naivorovoro intersection is expected to improve road user safety and reduce congestion.”

He said these improvements will also enable FRA to work towards signalising the Wainibuku – Naivorovoro crossroad later in 2018 that will inherently further improve the road safety at this location.

The changes are as follows:-

  • Suva bound traffic on King’s road will access the Rups complex by either making a left turn into the Rups front entry/exit or a right turn through the Rups side entry/exit on Naivorovoro road.
  • Nausori bound traffic on king’s road may access the Rups complex by either making a right turn into the complex through the channelized right turn bay, or using the mini roundabout to entre via the Naivorovoro road entrance.
  • Suva bound traffic will exit Rups complex by making a left turn out on to the King’s road through the Rups front entry/exit.
  • Nausori bound traffic will exit the Rups complex via the Rups side entry/exit on to Naivorovoro road and then through the mini roundabout on to King’s road.
  • Suva bound traffic on King’s road will access the temple by making a right turn through a channelized right turn bay.

Public are advised to note the changes to the road layout as detailed on the plan and follow all the road signages placed at this location as a guidance for motorists. The temporary road layout wand will continue until further notice.
