TD04F Situation Report No. 34 as at 0800 Hours – Sunday 01 January 2017

As restoration works progresses up the interior of Viti Levu, we have had a number of closures become apparent as we open up these areas.

By end of works yesterday, the number of roads reported to be inaccessible increased from seven to twelve. Below is the latest update of roads closed:

  • Kasavu Landslide, located north of the Kasavu/ Baulevu Road Junction on Kings Road is open to light vehicles only and operating as a single lane with potential for full closure if there are further slips. A 5 tonne weight restriction is in place. Allow extra traveling time.
  • The alternative access route is being constructed connecting Bau Tikina Road off the Kings Road to Ratu Mara Road in Raralevu. The opening of the alternative route will be subject to the results of the geotech investigation. The field investigation has been completed and FRA is waiting for the geotech report.
