ROADWORKS TO SEAL AND PROTECT RECENT RECONSTRUCTION ON PRINCES ROAD

22 May 2018

Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) will be carrying out second coat sealing on Princes Road from Cunningham intersection to Khalsa intersection from Sunday, 27th May.

These additional sealing works are essential in ensuring the recently constructed pavements are waterproofed to protect the investment under the ever increasing traffic loadings experienced in Suva.

General Manager Network Operations and Maintenance Aram Goes says works will start from 7am from the Cunningham end and continue towards Khalsa intersection with sealing expected to be complete before 5pm.

“Although these works do not restrict accessibility, motorists are requested to factor in extra travel time in their journey, adhere to the speed limits and observe all road signs”.

He said there will be delays when the carriageway will be reduced to one way to allow our contractors to complete the second coat on one lane before moving the gear to the opposite lane.

“Upon the successful completion of the sealing works, we will further cone the sections to minimise speeding and to allow the chips to settle into the bitumen (commonly known as tar). On Monday 28th May the Contractors will sweep the excess chips off the road and prepare for line marking.”

Mr Goes said full traffic management will be present on site to guide motorists safely through the site.
