About 40 families along the Wainibuku Road in Nasinu will now benefit from the road upgrade and maintenance works that will save travel times and improve road safety.
Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) General Manager Network Operations and Maintenance Aram Goes says the FRA understands the relief the upgraded roads bring to the public.
“The community is impressed with the quality of the road and now they can have a much safer and smoother ride, not having to swerve to avoid potholes,” Mr Goes said.
He said the road upgrade works took about two weeks to complete.
“Works included cleaning of existing water channels and construction of new water channels to improve existing drainage systems, reshaping of existing pavement and re-sheeting works along the whole route to improve road conditions, especially during wet weather.”
Mr Goes said the total cost of the upgrading works was approximately $40,000 and was funded under the Maintenance Programme.
