Request for temporary road closure. Fiji Women’s Rights Movement

Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) respectfully declined the application made by the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement for a temporary road closure through Suva’s CBD on Saturday December 10th 2016.

It is important to understand that marches through this route on a Saturday morning would cause significant disruption, congestion and overcrowding to the general public. The FRA confirms declining similar requests from other groups requesting temporary road closures for these period.

The FRA is more than happy to consider the NGO’s request provided it does not add to congestion and overcrowding by using the suggested alternative route.

The FRA has a responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of all road users and pedestrians.

An alternative route was suggested to the NGO who have chosen to ignore the suggestion.
