Motorists on Queen Elizabeth Drive in Suva can look forward to an improved road surface as road improvement work commences on the stretch of road from the Cakobau Road intersection to the Ratu Sukuna Road intersection.
Fiji Roads Authority GM Network Operations and Maintenance Aram Goes says that work on the 800 metre stretch will take a total of 6 weeks to complete. In addition the project includes the construction of footpaths as part of the kerb and channel work.
Mr Goes says that as a consequence, motorists are advised to use alternative routes as the road is restricted to one lane in some areas under the supervision of traffic controllers. All parking zones along the seawall in the work area have been closed off and will the public can expect a provision of formalized parking areas reopen once the road works have been completed.
The public are advised to plan for extra travel time and to keep to the speed limit of 30km/hr when driving through the work site. The road work is taking place both during the day and at night and is being carried out by Fulton Hogan Hiways.
