Fiji Roads Authority is advising the public especially travelers along Vakabuli Road in Lautoka that the Vitogo Paipai Bridge is temporarily closed due to damages sustained overnight and will reopen after receiving structural repairs that will be carried out by Higgins (Fiji) Limited.
Following a combined inspection by FRA’s maintenance contractor Higgins and Engineers from MWH Global the bridge was deemed dangerous and unable to remain open until FULLY repaired. The bridge will require its deck repaired and some strengthening work to the structure.
In the interim an alternative access is available via other connecting or looped roads that may appear longer; however our teams on ground are working to reopen the bridge by early next week so we ask for the public’s understanding, as this closure may bring about a short term inconvenience to travelers in the area.
Travelers along this road are advised to take this notice into account when finalising travel plans into and around the area and to contact Fiji Roads Authority on 5720 if they have any queries
