Thousands of people are now benefiting from the newly upgraded Daniva Road in Valelevu, Nasinu.
Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) General Manager Central Aram Goes says the new and improved road will help reduce congestion by providing a much safer and improved access to the Valelevu Health Centre, LTA Head Office, factories, warehouses, supermarkets and the Nasinu Town Council.
The 2km Daniva Road links to Nayavumata Road, Naveiwakau Road and Nasinu Road.
“Works included construction of new footpath, kerb and channel, dish channels, full reconstruction of the road pavement, new parking bays, and bus bay all resurfaced with a more durable smooth asphalt layer”.
He said the construction of the new parking bay from the Health Centre to the Police Post will also ensure proper parking access which will reduce congestion at the intersection.
“The newly upgraded road will also help manage the increased traffic volume in Nasinu and also cater for the rise in active pedestrian travel with improved footpath and new bus bay allowing the smooth flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.”
Beyond the asphalt surface section of the road the remainder of Daniva Road will have a full width layer of chip seal applied over the recently completed pavement repairs carried out there. This reseal work is planned for early June.
“The FRA is working closely with the Nasinu Town Council to address localised areas of road deterioration caused by surface flooding in the recent heavy rains, resulting from blocked drains to ensure this road is ready for the planned resealing.”
Mr Goes has thanked the road users for their patience and co-operation during these important works.
