Earlier this year the contract for the upgrade and renewal work was awarded to Pacific Marine and Civil Solutions.
The initial upgrade plan included the deck and beam replacement. When work started it was discovered that the piles supporting the structure were not sound and would also require significant work (underwater) to give them a longer life cycle consistent with the new superstructure.
An alternative layout at the same price as the original repair has been accepted by Fiji Roads Authority. The contractor had put forward an alternative design which will provide a new jetty, mooring dolphin and widened ramp as well as allow room for future planning; the construction of a duplicate ramp to the north of the jetty in the future.
These new improvements to the Natovi Jetty will make it safer and will benefit hundreds of travellers that access this jetty daily.
Contract Value: $2.2 Million
