KINGS ROAD AT NAQIA TO BE REDUCED TO SINGLE LANE FOR ROCK SCALING

19th July 2019

Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) would like to advise members of the public that Kings Road at Naqia will be reduced to single lane from Wednesday, 24th to Wednesday, 31st July from 7am to 6pm daily for rock scaling works.

As a consequence, there will be intermittent road closures and travellers along the area are advised to expect about 15 – 20 minutes’ delay.

FRA Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Moore says Naqia has been prone to frequent rock falls every time there is a heavy rainfall, making it dangerous for travellers along the area.

“This activity is aimed at enhancing safety for the public and help prevent damage to the road and the passing vehicles caused by falling rocks.”

He said a full traffic management will be present on site to guide motorists safely through the site and the public is requested to strictly adhere to the traffic management signage in place to ensure the safety of other motorists and workmen alike.

Travelers along this area are advised to take this notice into account when finalising travel plans. We apologise for any inconvenience. For further queries please call the FRA on 5720.
