Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) has awarded three contracts for the restoration of unsealed roads in the Western, Central and Northern Division.
FRA Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Moore says this project incorporates 30km of unsealed road in the Western, 25km of unsealed road in the Central and 35km of unsealed road in the Northern Division.
“Works include grading of the road carriageway, the addition of aggregate to the road pavement, dig-out repairs, maintenance of shoulders, and supply and installation of drainage culverts.”
He said these works are necessary to maintain the safe running surface on the unsealed roading network.
“The aim of the Fijian Government is to maintain all roads to the highest possible standard, along with ensuring continuous improvement of the road network; and responding to provide 24/7 access for the public and businesses that rely upon this road network.”
Mr Moore said works on these roads will begin once the weather clears up and will be completed in stages to minimise disruption to road users.
Works are expected to be completed in this 2017/18 financial year, subject to weather.
