16 December 2017
The Fiji Roads Authority will be re-opening Edinburgh Drive with two lanes operating from 4pm on Saturday 16 December 2017.
This was confirmed by Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Moore.
“Investigations into the cracks discovered during the recent roadworks have been completed and the consultants to the FRA have advised that they believe that there is no imminent danger.”
He said the FRA is continuing more detailed investigations over the coming week, and there may be times when the road may have to be temporarily returned to single lane to permit the investigation.
“Road users are requested to observe speed limits in this area (as well as in all other areas of road works around Fiji) because we have workers operating in close proximity to the moving traffic.”
Mr Moore has also advised the road-using public that if they detect any ground movement in the highway or the surrounding area, they will close the road immediately.
