Close to 4000 people are now benefitting from the new roads in Moala and Vanuabalavu constructed by the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA).
FRA Acting Chief Executive Officer Robert Sen says they are pleased to announce that the Moala and Vanuabalavu project was completed on time.
“This is a big achievement and we thank the FRA Engineer to Contract, Mr Johari Abdullah, FRA Engineers Apisai Tuiloma, Rodrick Chand, Tevita Tabaiwalu and our contractor Lomanitoba Company Limited for their hard work and dedication in getting these important project completed.”
He said the new roads have brought the communities safe and easy access to schools, health facilities and has enabled farmers to transport their agricultural produce and livestock’s more easily by reducing travel cost and time.
“The FRA wishes to thank the communities for their patience and support during these important works.”
This project was under the Eastern Island Roads Upgrade project for maintenance and renewals of the existing roading network, and bridge repairs superstructure replacement, on Moala, Vanuabalavu, Lakeba and Koro Island.
With the successful completion of Moala and Vanuabalavu, both Lakeba and Koro Island is anticipated to be completed by December 2017.
