DAVUILEVU FARM ROAD CLOSED TOMORROW NIGHT FOR PHASE TWO OF THE CULVERT INSTALLATION WORK

17 March 2017

Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) is advising members of the public that Davuilevu Farm Road, Nakasi will be closed from 8:00pm tomorrow, Saturday 18th March and re-open at 5:00am, Sunday 19th March 2017.

This closure will allow for phase two of the culvert crossing construction.

Scope of work:

  • Remove temporary culvert crossing
  • Remove dislocated 900 culvert on upstream side
  • Supply and placed culvert crossing
  • Construct headwall on both sides
  • Construct Apron slabs
  • Backfill carriageway to finishing level
  • Construct concrete decking

FRA Chief Executive Officer John Hutchinson says they will be carrying out culvert reinstatement works on Davuilevu Farm road.

This was after the culvert was damaged during TD04F last year in December due to the debris washed down from upstream that had blocked off the culvert inlets.

“We had carried out temporary repairs in December by installing eight new culverts to make the road accessible, however, we will now be carrying out permanent repairs.”

Mr Hutchinson has thanked the road users for their patience and understanding as FRA continues to improve the road infrastructure.
