Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) wishes to advise members of the public that Ratu Cakobau Road will be closed temporarily to traffic from tomorrow 6am to 6pm daily for relocation of the water main required as part of the road upgrade works.
FRA General Manager Network Operations and Maintenance Aram Goes says these works will see the continuation of the recently completed road improvements on Queen Elizabeth Drive and Gladstone Road joined up to McGregor Road by the upgrading of Ratu Cakobau and Denison Roads.
“Our contractor Fulton Hogan Hiways Joint Venture will lay the new Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) lines during this period of closure,” Mr Goes said.
Short detours are in place are available via Domain, Denison and Pender Roads and also via lower Ratu Cakabau and Gladstone Roads.
He said residents and workers accessing through to Berkeley Crescent, Williamson Road and Cakobau Road will be allowed through during the course of work.
“The FRA assures the public that local access for residents, customers and staff for the Restaurants and the Museum will also be kept open at all times.”
Mr Goes has thanked the public for their patience whilst these essential works are carried out and wishes to advise further temporary road closures on Denison Road will be required as these improvement works continue up the hill to connect onto McGregor Road.
This section of Ratu Cakobau Road is expected to re-open at 6.00am, Friday 10th November.
